Leader in capital markets
The economic revival after Poland’s accession to the EU increased the confidence of foreign investors in our financial market. Foreign equity funds positively influenced the share market.

Warsaw is developing into the financial centre of Central and Eastern Europe. Year 2005 brought the highest annual turnover value, the indices repeatedly setting their new all-time highs, the record values of market capitalization and dividends and records on derivatives market.

The increase of capitalization in 2005 results from the growth in number of listed companies, as well as from the rise of their market value, which has already been visible for 3 years. At the end of 2005, the WSE capitalization (domestic companies only) reached PLN 308.4 billion. In comparison with the end of 2004, the market value of listed companies grew by 43.9%. Taking into account also the foreign companies, the WSE capitalization at year-end amounted to PLN 424.9 billion (increase by 45.7 % compared to 2004).
